The VW Transporter won van of the year 2014 on this day 14 years ago for the Volkswagen Transporter T4.
Its been a few years since VW have been back at the motorshow, and there seems to be a general trend among manufacturers to stay away.
The 2004 award was from fleet van and one of the reasons was because the Transporter had a dash mounted gear stick can you believe.
Even back in 2004 Volkswagen were on the right track and looking at whole life costs of the van rathe than just purchase price.
